Fabulous Rio!!!

Well, Alison has gone off to get us some breakfast (at noon!) and I'm
in charge of updating you all. We leave Rio tomorrow morning for a 24
hour bus ride to Iguasu Falls (spelled wrong). We have heard mixed
reviews about the buses, so we'll see.
We've seen loads here. We had a rainy day, and ended up at the Art
Museum in the centro. It opened late, so we wandered around the
downtown and saw the harbor and some chruches, etc. The special
exhibit there was from the Prada, so Alison had seen most of it, but
the permenant exhibit was very good. There was also a weird
bellybutton exhibit which was entertaining.
Yesterday we saw Jesus. Very crowded, but cool. We took the train.
Unfortunately it was cloudy, but we still saw all the beaches and
Sugerloaf. Then we went to the botanical garden, which was really
amazing, and we saw our first monkies!!! Very cute, but they were
throwing stuff out of the trees at us so we moved along. They have
giant bamboo and beautiful flowers. We were both really impressed.
Then we went to the restaurant where the girl from Ipanema was
written, and had a HUGE dinner and a lime drink with Brazilian can
alcohol (which accounts for my terrrible headache this morning). Then
we went to a street party with hundreds and hundreds of people, then
some bar where I remember breaking a glass... All good fun.
Today we plan to sit on the beach and go to Sugerloaf.
The craziest part has been riding the city buses around. They RARELY
stop and red lights, and zoom around at about 70mph through the city
streets. Its very entertaining, except when you try to cross the
street.
Alison said to tell you that Concrete Blonde is playing here. I~m not
sure what band that is, but apparently that means something to some
of you.
