Welcome
to the real South America... (con't) Sun Oct

The next day was easily the most amazing,
as we sped out onto the world´s largest salt flats. The scenery was
unreal- because it had been raining, an inch of water sat on the salt and
reflected the sky perfectly and made the horizon impossible to see, giving
us the feeling that we were flying through the clouds as we drove across.
It was the perfect end to a long trip!
After a relaxing night in Uyuni and a last meal together as a group, we
parted ways, with four of us heading together northward to Potosi. Our trip
north was our first proper Bolivian bus experience, and not too bad, considering
the road was all dirt and so curvy that every time we went around a bend
the bus had to honk to be sure there was no oncoming traffic.
Of course, it was also completely overpacked, with people filling the ailes,
but I expected nothing less. At least there was no livestock on board, and
they did stop to let us the bathroom once, though we just had to hide behind
some adobe bricks on the side of the road for privacy.
And so, late yesterday afternoon, we arrived in Potosi, the highest city
in the world, at 4080m. Have no´t yet had much of a chance to explore
yet, but we´ll keep you posted.
Until then, PATTY and ALISON |
